Dr Myrna Abi Abdallah Doumit
Assistant Dean, Lebanese American University, School of Nursing, Beirut, Lebanon
Dr Myrna Doumit earned her PHD and post master’s certificate in nursing education from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and her BSN, MPH and her Diploma in educational management and leadership from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. She is a fellow at the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). Dr Doumit is currently a tenured Associate Professor and Assistant Dean at the Lebanese American University, Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing. Myrna is a founding faculty of the LAU School of Nursing.
Dr Doumit has many publications and oral and poster presentations at national and international peer reviewed journals and conferences respectively. She is the co- founder of a breast cancer support group in Lebanon” awareness” and founder and director of the program “courage against breast cancer”.
Doumit is a member on health committees developed by the Lebanese Ministry of Health as well as international health and research committees. Myrna worked closely with the Order of Nurses on many initiatives to name building capacities of nursing workforce in PHC; first and second international conferences and workshops related to the profession’s regulation in Lebanon. She also introduces nursing students to the Order of Nurses mission, vision and importance at the national level on yearly basis. She was elected as Executive Board Member of the Lebanese Health Management Association (LHMA). Dr. Doumit is a founding member of the STTI, Chi Iota chapter at AUBSON and she is a member of Epsilon Phi chapter, Duquesne as well. She was elected as the first Middle East STII chapters’ coordinator. Dr. Doumit is a member of ISNCC.
Dr Doumit worked as a curriculum consultant for many local and regional nursing schools and she has a wealthy experience in curriculum development, evaluation and accreditation. She also represents the Lebanese Ministry of Education on the scientific committee of the Arab Board for Nurses and Midwifery and she was elected as Vice president.
Dr Doumit was recently elected (June 2018) as President of the Order of Nurses, Lebanon.
